Sparkling Snowflake Slime for Sharing With Friends
Sparkling Snowflake Slime for Sharing With Friends is a simple, safe and inexpensive craft project for ages 3-100. It is a perfect gift for children to share with their friends!
My almost 3 year old daughter hero worships her older cousins. They taught her how to make slime at their house, and at her young age you might expect that she would forget the experience eventually. Nope. “Mommy, we make slime?” For months. I gave her play-doh. “This is slime?” Ugh. Well, as will happen, little girl was slightly under the weather one day, enough to stay home from daycare but not enough to really slow her down. What to do with her? MAKE SLIME!
I wanted a “recipe” that was safe for little hands to touch and something quick for a short attention span (mine). I decided to combine a fun craft project with a lesson in giving/sharing. I knew that little girl would be so proud to give her cousins slime that she made “by herself.”
This slime has 3 main ingredients: White glue, shaving cream, and saline solution. The glue and shaving cream get mixed together first, and we added glitter in order to punch up the fun. Adding the glitter before adding the saline solution makes it easier to incorporate the glitter(trust me on this). Finally, we added the saline solution a few streams at a time until our slime was the desired consistency.
Fun Packaging Makes it Even Cuter!
I was going to Modge Podge the craft paper onto the lids, but decided to pull out the hot glue gun instead. While little girl played with her slime, I traced circles on the craft paper, cut it out, and glued it to the lids. There was plenty of craft paper left, so I cut small squares of paper and made gift tags.
Together, we filled jars with slime, then little girl poured a small amount of snowflake glitter on top of the slime in each jar.
I punched a hole in each gift tag, threaded ribbon through it, and tied it around the jar. Ta-dah! I can’t tell you how much fun we had doing this project together, and the result is adorable! We hope the cousins like it as much as we do!
